Work Life Balance... Can It Be Achieved
For the professional, business owner or entrepreneur, the short answer in my opinion is no
Welcome to a very eye opening blog post. Here I will discuss my opinion on work life balance and what that term really means for the business owner.
It's a Myth
“When its time to work, its time to work and when its play time, its play time.”
"I just want the freedom to have fun and run my business".

The thought that you can start a business and have tons of free time is a myth. PERIOD!
“Be original, show off your style, and tell your story.”
I am unsure of where the concept of work life balance came into play within my career choices. In my maturity the thought that I can play as hard as I work on a daily basis, is in fact a lie. Now, don't get me wrong...when its time to work, its time to work and when its play time, its play time. The reality is that we would all love to work once a week and make lots of money.
The fact that you though that you would always just work 2 to 3 days and for the remainder of your week you will be chilling is a great way to set yourself up for failure. Especially if you are in phase one of starting a new business. Don't get me wrong, there will be times that the above said work week will happen. However, that may not be your norm if you are going through a growth period or if you are just blessed to be busy.
Focus On This
Work life balance for many really translates into I need more vacation time and I want to enjoy life a little more. Instead of chasing work life balance, you may want to make some changes to your overall work environment. In stead of craving or forcing a work life balance situation that doesn't exist in you current situation try considering the following:
Get a new job! Seriously, if your job is causing you to be overworked and overstressed, then it may be time for a change
Try doing something new! Life may seem dull because you are not having fun. Take up dancing lessons, learn to paint, go on a scenic hike...what ever the choice, remember to have fun.
Go on a vacation! Let's face it...some of us have not had a real vacation in a long time. Event taking 2 to 3 days off can really help with resetting your mind and energy levels.
Get some help! It may be time to hire an assistant. If you are a business owner, it is nothing new to wear many hats within the business. Let's give some of those hats to someone that can really help the business grow.
Ask for a raise or pay yourself more. A great pay check can help you get through stress a little easier and afford you the ability to take some much needed time off.
Bottom line: You have to be bold enough to make changes in your work environment and life that make you happy!
